The Flick
The Flick takes place during a time where 75% of all movie theatres in the United States were converting to digital. This transition from the organic quality of film to the more definite quality of digital serves as a metaphor for how the characters yearn to see each other versus what usually ends up happening. "Digital movies are just millions of tiny dots" similar to the multitude of tiny boxes and stereotypes we put each other in. "These dots cannot express the variation in color and texture that film can" and neither can the assumptions that we make about other people. It is much harder, but more magical, when we choose to see the full breadth of our humanity in all its lights and darks.
This production was filled with a lot of firsts. It was my first time really sitting in the director's chair at Pensacola Little Theatre. For many of my actors, this was their first or second show here or in their entire lives. For many of the production team members, this was their first time sitting behind the table. It takes a lot of trust to put such a raw, imperfect, and honest show in new hands, but you gotta have a little faith in people.

Stop Kiss
In October of 2021, Lauren Thomas (pictured as Callie Pax below top left) asked me if I was interested in directing a stage reading of a show for our theatre club on campus, Vagabonds. I replied saying that I would read the script and let her know. I absolutely fell in love with Stop Kiss. What started as a stage reading turned into a full student led production with a two-week rehearsal time, one of my most ambitious projects. This show is heartfelt and shows the magic of a first love. But it is also devastating and displays how violence and hate affects queer women's lives.
If you would like to read more about the production, feel free to check out this article by Dylan Olive of The Southern Newspaper here.
An original song titled "Get to Know You" was written for this production by Kai Anderson and Christine Sells. More information can be found on their website: About – Anxious Deity Writers

Pride Play
As a part of American Stage's Fresh Ink series, I directed a stage reading of Pride Play by Jayne Deely. The one-day performance took play in the gallery space at Creative Pinellas followed by a talkback.
Picture it: Downtown St. Pete. Drag Queens. An interactive story. Throughout the play, local drag queens usher the audience through a queer relationship... with some improv thrown in the mix. By staging the reading in a more intimate and non-traditional space, plus the additions of improv and lip-sync performances, I strived to break the barriers of what a stage reading can be and incorporate an inescapable sense of queer joy throughout the experience.

Torrid Taxes
For Pensacola Little Theatre's Short Attention Span Theatre, a Studio 400 production showcasing a series of engaging unpublished one-acts, I directed Torrid Taxes by Laurie Spector.
On the eve of April 15th, Desiree Hofflemeister arrives at the office of Chance Goldblatt, a CPA, desperate to file her taxes, but they might form a connection that goes beyond crunching the numbers.
